Ending Elsewhere is out August 20, 2021, a year and half to the day after my first single “slowly, surely” was released. this project and its artwork are inspired by, and deeply connected to, that song. I use my music as a way to communicate with myself, and in one way or another all my music is about the process of contextualizing my experiences into lessons. slowly, surely reminds me to be patient; Ending Elsewhere reminds me to expect (and accept) uncertainty.

the title Ending Elsewhere comes from the book “Too Much and Not the Mood” in which the author, Durga Chew-Bose, describes her path to happiness as non-linear; starting somewhere, ending elsewhere. since I first read it in 2017, the concept of ending elsewhere has stuck with me as a beautifully simple illustration of life’s complexity. in the past 18 months I’ve had many starts, stops, ups, and downs, all of which have shaped this EP. these experiences have shown me the value of having somewhere to go, of committing to a plan for better or worse, of departing and returning. making this project helped my get closer to my elsewhere and hope it helps you get closer to yours.
